NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Negotiations continued on April 14th, 15th and 16th, in Houston.  Although the schedule had only three days for this session, it was a productive week.

We continued with Article 10, Leaves of Absence, and with further discussion and counter proposals were able to reach a tentative agreement on this article.  We then proceeded with the union’s first proposal on Article 3, Classifications and Bid Areas.  The company had a number of questions regarding the union proposal and there was some productive discussion.

Negotiations are scheduled to resume on May 3rd.

XPRESS JET NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

Negotiations continued beginning on March 1st, 2010, in Houston, and continued for the week.  On Monday the union gave the counter proposal on Article 12.  The company gave the union a counter proposal on Article 16, Moving Expenses.  As we worked through the week, we went back and forth on Articles 12, 16, 13, and & 7.

Throughout the week there was much discussion on the issues.  Both sides are being diligent in their preparation.  We are trying to meet the needs of our members, while understanding the company’s concerns, both operational and financial.

When not in direct session with the company the union committee has been working on counter proposals and reviewing our initial proposals, insuring that they reflect the intent of the committee and best interests of the membership.

By the end of the week we were able to reach tentative agreements on Articles 12, Field Trips and 13, Training.

Future dates are scheduled and hopefully we will be able to continue our progress at a good pace.

In Solidarity,

Bob Luciano

The negotiating committee convened on January 11, 2010 at the offices of Local 19, in Houston to prepare for the week’s meetings. Joint meetings were held on January 12th, 13th and 14th. It was a productive week, with a tentative agreement on Article 5, Filling of Vacancies, as well as discussions and some counter proposals from both sides on three other contract articles.
As a result of some of the union’s proposals, the company needs to do some research before it can respond. When they complete this we expect to be able to reach agreement on the other articles that were discussed.
The committee put in a full week and worked diligently, using time away from the joint meetings to be prepared for future sessions. As with the first session
there were open and honest discussions as to the needs and concerns of both sides, which helps the process continue at a good pace.
The next session has been scheduled for the beginning of March.
In Solidarity,
Bob Luciano
Business Agent/ Trustee, Teamster Local 210
Negotiating Committee Chairman
