Recent comments in the press attributed to Mr. Smisek indicate an attempt to minimize the importance of labor in the pending merger. Maybe Mr. Smisek needs a reminder; labor does matter. The success of this merger lies in labor’s hands. Our concerns must be taken seriously. June 9 will be our opportunity to send that message.
We will start early on the morning of June 9 with a continental breakfast at the ALPA offices (3808A World Houston Parkway, Houston TX; just behind the Sheraton on JFK) at 0630.Buses leave for downtown at 0700.An alternate meeting point would be Antioch Park in downtown Houston (1400 Smith Street) at 0800. Commuters should plan accordingly. The day’s activities will conclude with lunch at the ALPA offices (families welcome) shortly after noon.
Appropriate dress for the day will be summer uniform. The pilots will also be wearing hats.
Parking is limited and carpooling is recommended. There will be vans running from the union office and Terminal E, upper level, from 0610-0650.Look for an “ALPA” sign in the van window.Additionally, a hotel van can be utilized for transportation to the Sheraton, which is adjacent to the union offices.
Don your uniform and walking shoes and join us for the event!
